I love Rothko, although this exhibition doesn't the portrait reds which are my favorite. I will be pissed if Mad Men make it a cliche!

Not sure. The definition of art escapes me these days, but it would look epic as the focal point of an open-pan lounge

okay i get you there is is properly correct but is that art or graphic engineering?

Rothko is about visual correctness for me. I haven't read up on the theory behind it too much, nor on his life and inspirations, but when i look at the color combinations, the ration of color "rectangles" and the dimensions of the canvas (portrait mostly) - holistically it looks powerful and demands attention

I find his work dull, I know it has some meaning in it somewhere but hey it aint my bag, Im into Murakami and Dali etc where i can see some visul representation of idea.. if you could enlighten me on this dude maybe i can change my perception
